  • 23rd August 2010 - After two years of recording other Artists in our Recording Studio we have finally started on our new CD. We have been writing a lot of songs over the past two years and have been giving many away to other Artists but have about about twenty for us to choose from plus a copy of songs from other writers as well.  We were very pleased to find out last week that our song "Eighty Mile Beach Memorial" which was recorded by Victorian Balladeer Evan Platschinda on his latest CD and done as a duet with Terry was played as the opening song at their ceremony to commemorate Vietnam Veterens Day (18th August) Eighty Mile Beach is a caravan park just South of Broome in WA where a lot of Vietnam Vets spend their winter and they all got together and built a war memorial to honour our soldiers from all wars.

    28th May 2009

We have been busy in our Moondyne Recording Studio producing an Album called "Life, Love and Laughter Lines" for Deb Beckett from Western Australia and a single will be released from it on the 8th of May on NFS. The Album has 12 songs, 11 of which Deb has written herself and we feel that with her songwriting skills and amazing voice it will not be long before the whole of Australia will know who Deb Beckett is.

    31st January 2009

Since we released our latest Album "Songs of our Land" in 2008 we have both been very pleased with the response from Radio Stations and music lovers alike so to all the good folks out there that have bought the CD or given our songs airplay around Australia thank you very much.    It was a big thrill to pick up our first Instrumental Award at the Gidgee Coal Bush Ballad Awards in November 2008 for "Freight Train Boogie" and we were stunned to win the Best Bush Ballad Award at the 2009 TIARA's for "Where Has My Australia Gone".    The good news carried on this week when we found out that the same song has won '2009 Best WA Single Release' at the Boyup Brook Country Music Awards and our new CD also picked up '2009 Best Album'.

We have also been busy recording in our 'Moondyne Recording Studio' which we have located on our property in Gnangara and have just mastered a new Album that we produced and recorded for Keith Jamieson and Alisha Smith.   Keith, Alisha and their daughter Caitlyn stayed with us for two weeks at the end of November into December where we put down 17 tracks with Keith singing 10 songs and Alisha playing 7 instrumentals.                                                                                                                                                                                                Keith recorded his first ever Duet on this Cd when he and Jenny did a remake of an old Slim Dusty/Joy Mckean song "You've got the Cleanest Mind" and on the last day in the studio Keith wrote some more lyrics for a song Terry had been writing called "Mateship" and Keith and Terry sang it as a duo as well. This a great collection of original songs mainly written by Keith and some covers of some old songs with a nice Keith and Alisha touch to them.  We're very happy that Keith and Alisha recorded three tracks that we had written on their new CD with Alisha doing two of our instrumentals and Keith singing one song. So if you are out on the road somewhere and run into Keith and Alisha pick up a copy of their new CD "Rhythm 'n' Rhyme", you'll be glad you did. And you can also buy it off them by ringing on their home number at 07 49340950 or mobile at 0427 731 088.                                                                                                                                           To Keith and Alisha, thank you for your mateship and it was a pleasure to have you stay with us, play guitars and knock back a couple of beers.

    17th August 2008

We're pleased to announce that two of the songs off our new CD "Songs of our Land" have made it into the top ten finals of the Australian Songwriting Association 2008 Awards. "Where has my Australia Gone" is a finalist in the 'Australia' category and "Freight Train Boogie" is a finalist in the 'Instrumental' category. The winners will be announced on the 28th of August at the ASA awards presentation evening.

8th August 2008                                                   Terry & Jenny enjoying the FeNacLNG Festival

We flew up to Karratha over the August 2nd & 3rd weekend to perform at their FeNacLNG Festival which is their once a year long weekend Show/Festival sponsored by the major Iron ore, Salt and Natural gas companies. They had a variety of artists to cater for the kids upwards and we launched our new CD "Songs of our Land" which we only just received the day before we left. We had a great time, enjoyed some warm weather for a change and would like to thank everyone involved in the festival for looking after us so well. We have already had good sales for our new Album so thanks to everyone for that and there will be more details of the CD posted on our website over coming weeks.

    ‘Songs of our Land’

Third album a patriotic release for WA’s Terry & Jenny Bennetts

‘Songs of our Land’ is album number three and the latest of  identifiable releases for West Australia’s singer songwriter duo Terry & Jenny Bennetts.

‘It’s a collection of songs about people, places, war, farming, truckies, dogs, horses and some personal reflections about how our home Australia has changed down through the years for better or for worse.‘  Terry says.

Recorded at Moondyne Studios, the album is another quality effort from the much accomplished writers.

Adding ‘We would like to thank all those who helped in the making of this album, the muso’s especially Peter Denahy who travelled from his home in the East to play fiddle on this album for us – Thanks Pete, Mark Donohoe for helping with the mixing and our mates Dirk and Claudine from Kwik Kopy for CD cover design’

    NEWS FLASH

Two of the tracks are finalist nominations in tonight’s ASA Songwriting Awards  - ‘Freight Train Boogie’ in the 'Instrumental', and ‘Where Has My Australia Gone’ in the 'Australia' section.

    The Songs

Dear Mum I’m Safe And Well  The niece of a soldier who served during WW2 showed us a letter he sent home to his mother from Tobruk and asked us if we could write a song about it. The letter was written as a poem with every verse ending with the words  ‘Dear Mum I’m Safe And Well’ Although it was censored we took what he had written all those years ago, filled in the gaps, added a tune and it ended up as this Albums opening song.

Porcelain Draught Horse  Sitting on my Mother’s kitchen table is a porcelain statue of a draught horse that she had bought for Dad to remind him of the early days on our farm when the horse was an essential part of farming and every day life.

Save Me A Seat In Heaven  A song written about two old stockmen and their memories.

Where Has My Australia Gone  A personal look at Australia and how it has changed since we were young kids growing up in the bush. The beautiful voices in the chorus are our two oldest grandchildren. Ben age 9, and Jaime age 8.

Weeping Willows  A song about a farming family’s battle with the weather and their optimism that next season will be better.

Freight Train Boogie  An instrumental dedicated to Jenny’s Dad who worked as an engine driver for W.A. Railways for 44 years.

Swagman’s Lament  The swaggie is such a part of Australian Folklore. This is a story of one of them.

My Dog Loves You Too  They say that dogs are a good judge of character, this song supports that theory.

A Million Stars  This song was written about a truckie after we took a trip up to the N/W of W.A. a few years ago.

We’re Just Passing Through  Another personal look at the Australian way of life.

Memories Of Home  A guitar and fiddle instrumental.
